YES! Okay, transfer is finished. Files may need proofreading and editing.

I will work on that too. Also work on some new reviews…

Completion. by EvilkritterEvilkritter, 30 Oct 2010 04:12

I agree and disagree.

The simple dichotomy here is that Lesbot and…that guy from Writer's Block…are focusing on different elements. Lesbot could not get over the excessive fanservice, and the fact that Mora is a total bitch. Writer's Block guy doesn't care about the fanservice, sounding embarrassed when he had to mention it, and accepted Mora as a character. Writer's Block guy liked the setting, which Lesbot noted had serious potential at the beginning, and focused on the interaction of the characters' personalities.

Writer's Block guy sounded oblivious to fanservice to me, like he didn't even realize it was there. He talks about "Learning Curves" like it's a plot building experience when the name itself proves otherwise.

The characters' personalities, to my eyes, are forced. I personally feel like Chalo forces his characters into relationships just to get them into relationships, like it's Big Brother Katbox Edition and everyone's ready to jump into a relationship with someone.

I can't help but feel like Lesbot had some good points here. I think Writer's Block guy is trying, but when he said "I can find nothing wrong with it" I immediately became leery. It was rose-colored. At best.

The truth is that you do not need a likable protagonist to make a decent story, you don't even need a likable character. Just look at "Seinfeld", I don't know how that load of jackasses stayed on the air for more than half a season but the show was at least successful (ignoring the quality of the show for a moment).

Seinfeld and Company were likeable in a very New Yawk sort of way. They were likeable because they were so flawed, just as Frasier Crane was an absolutely smug prick but whose smugness was always his breakdown.

There were always horrific cringeworthy moments but those were character-defining moments. In the same way I think Mora's seducing the male characters into working on the farm could be a character-building experience but… well, she drags them back through begging and pleading.

I guess that's sort of looking for morality. I see it more as the characters' needing to call her on her ways and reach a satisfyingly thorough conclusion, in which the characters see her character changes and act accordingly (i.e. giving her another chance.)

Perhaps I don't remember the story well enough and she really did change enough to convince them that she would do better in the future. I read it differently at the time though.

Though, I will be honest, I did not personally find Las Lindas to be worth reading.

It wasn't, but I think a real, legitimate case could be made for its being an OK comic if Writer's Block guy would at least fess up and realize that it isn't some perfect gem that everybody will love if they just give it a chance.

Finished the T's! Hooray!

Probably all for tonight. by EvilkritterEvilkritter, 27 Oct 2010 02:08

I finally watched the review, and I spent most of the time nodding my head as he spoke (likely because I have not read Las Lindas itself in quite some time) until he said "there is nothing I can complain about in this comic". HA!

I see where he is coming from though. We need to remember that as BadWebcomics members we tend to be heavy on the cynicism. If we let it flow all the time we would be destroying comics like XKCD and OotS for "poor art", "cliched elements", and "philosophical bullshit". XKCD and OotS have their flaws (the former moreso than the latter in my opinion) but most webcomics have flaws and if we can accept the flaws then we are able to enjoy them anyway. Keep in mind that people who have followed a webcomic for some time tend to overlook "little things" that mar it, especially if they have spent some time on the forum and immersed themselves in the setting further then direct canon.

The simple dichotomy here is that Lesbot and…that guy from Writer's Block…are focusing on different elements. Lesbot could not get over the excessive fanservice, and the fact that Mora is a total bitch. Just look at "Seinfeld", I don't know how that load of jackasses stayed on the air for more than half a season but the show was at least successful (ignoring the quality of the show for a moment). Writer's Block guy picked up on elements that he liked and got over the bits he didn't; whereas the unlikable main, excessive fanservice, and unfortunate implied morals were killers for Lesbot.

My attitude when reading (which comes naturally to me) is to assume that the events are to be examined as events, ignoring any "moral of the story" that may be there and using my own judgment regarding an actions morality.

Though, I will be honest, I did not personally find Las Lindas to be worth reading.

I should finish the S's tonight. I hate "Suicide for Hire", I remember considering writing a fanfiction in which the mains were killed. Then I noticed the irony.

Progress is being made!

Working. by EvilkritterEvilkritter, 27 Oct 2010 01:02

Got up to "Kit n' Kay Boodle". Ugh, I threw up a lot inside.

'Nuff for now. by EvilkritterEvilkritter, 14 Oct 2010 01:46

People deleted them.

Re: Huh, that's odd. by The LuigiianThe Luigiian, 14 Oct 2010 01:37

"Cat's 'n Cameras" and "Jone Boners" are both missing. Anybody know what happened to them?

Huh, that's odd. by EvilkritterEvilkritter, 14 Oct 2010 01:26

Up to the J's.

Jack Chick is so full of shit; the worst mistake an evangelist can make is to display the people they are trying to convince as monumental imbeciles. Not only that, he attacks SCIENCE LIKE IT CONTRADICTS GOD. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

But yeah, progress is being made.

More update. by EvilkritterEvilkritter, 14 Oct 2010 01:15

D's and E's are done. I wonder if that is a coincidence given the greatest assets of many of the main characters…

More update. by EvilkritterEvilkritter, 14 Oct 2010 00:36

Wow, doing for a long stretch is getting to me. My mind is starting to bend.

C's are done.

When I was doing the Ctrl+Alt+Del transfer I had the shit confused out of me.

I transferred CAD1.jpg, CAD2.jpg, CAD3.gif, CAD4.jpg, CAD6.jpg, CAD7.jpg.

…wait.

An (un)Artifact of old modifications.

Re: TRANSFER STATUS by EvilkritterEvilkritter, 13 Oct 2010 23:44

Take your time. This is great, and I'm glad to see the lesser of the evil wikis will finally get used :)

Re: TRANSFER STATUS by The LuigiianThe Luigiian, 13 Oct 2010 05:25

I would prefer we just had redundant reviews. Just have a page for the Webcomic with all of the relevant reviews, threads, and discussions of the webcomic linked to an official "This Webcomic's Page".

Re: New Format by EvilkritterEvilkritter, 13 Oct 2010 01:40

Finished the the B's. Still transferring C and onward.

TRANSFER STATUS by EvilkritterEvilkritter, 13 Oct 2010 01:38

A bit late to matter, but I had this little revelation and it changed the way I think about writing.

"Every Character I write is me."

Simple.

1. Go to the page of the article where you want to add a picture.

2. Near the bottom of the page there's a list of options, including "Edit", "Tags", and "History." Click "Files".

3. Upload the image.

I am (un)officially working on the transfer of all the contents of BadWebcomics to the WebcomicAuthority, and halfway through this post I realized that wasn't what you were talking about.

Yes, write reviews, any attitude is acceptable (save for needless douchebaggery or fanboyism).

I am transferring reviews over from BadWebcomics, and I don't know how to upload images to WebcomicAuthority, and I would prefer not to have to rely on the existing uploads on BadWebcomics in case the site closes.

So, how do I upload pictures to site storage?
